Sophie Lancaster: Because we want to fight against intolerance

In August 24th 2007 Sophie Lancaster died, I didn't meet her, she was thousands and thousands kilometers away from me, we didn't know each other exist, sadly I knew about her existence because her murder, why?... she was a goth, who was beaten to coma and death after 6 days, her boyfriend was lucky to survive because she covered him with her body while he was unconscious they were only 20 and 21 when the attack, a group teenagers called them weirdo, mosher, and freak, I don't know who is freaker? a gothic girl or those drunk murderers.

Those "boys" will be out of jail before they turn to 30 maybe, but Sophie stopped her life at 20, in November she would be 25 this year, same age I'm in this moment. Her mother, Sylvia Lancaster created The Sophie Lancaster Foundation: S.O.P.H.I.E. (Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere) to help to eradicate and educate the new generation about tolerance and how to stop this hate crimes.

Why do I write all this things? because as goth I want to spread a non-intolerance word, because all of us goths or not goths we've living a different kind of discrimination, and a lot of new generations can suffer the same tragic end of Sophie.

I just wanted to share this because it is my will, and because I'm not the only one who thinks the same way...

Sugarpill Cosmetics (pt.2)

Pics from my Sugarpill Purchases:

Samples

Pressed Eyeshadows

Loose EyeShadows

Stickers!!!

I didn't buy the burning heart palette because is easier for me to carry them when I just want to use 1 or 2 colors or I don't want to take a lot of makeup with me.

I still want some others like Absinthe, Tipsy, Royal Sugar, Paperdoll and Birthday Girl loose eyeshadows and the eyelashes :3.

But well actually I'm obsessed with the items I have in my hands.

I LOVE SUGARPILL!!!!

Sugarpill Cosmetics (pt.1)

A long time ago I discovered a new company of cosmetics, with dream looking colors (for me), that company is Sugarpill Cosmetics.

But rarely it tooks me more than a year to decide to buy one, because I had my manic panic, coastal scents eyeshadows, but I wanted those colors from Sugarpill. The first order I did had 2 rare colors that are hard to find, and harder to find highly pigmented, I have red and yellow for the 88 matte color palette by Coastal Scents, but I wanted more than the little pot and I wanted something HIPER pigmented. Yesterday my order finally was deliver in my house, for an International order, the shadows came in perfect condition because they were carefully packaged (yay!), first thing I saw the 2 little boxes with my 2 pressed eyeshadows: Love + and Buttercupcake and the free sample of Loose eyeshadow in Lumi tone: OMG, an iridescent white, sparkling powder, lovely, and the sample get the purpose, I want to buy it XD.

In the box came a free sticker with Sugarpill logo in blue, I loved, I tought the blue one wasn't pretty as the pink one (I ordered 5 pink stickers) both are so beautiful and Sparkling!!!. and in the package came obviously my bill with a nice thanking note from Amy (Shrinkle), the Sugarpill creator and owner, I think it's nice :).

Well turning back to the pressed eyeshadows the first one I'd open, was Buttercupcake, what do I have to say about it?, well it's the brightest yellow eyeshadow EVER! I was wondered about how pigmented is, just beautiful. In the happy mood I was, pulled out Love+, I wanted to see if the dream was true and it was, HIGHLY pigmented bright red and both swatches lasted a lot, for $12 each I get something I've been looking for a while, at this point you can think I'm crazy or I'm being exaggerated, Coastal Scents have great cosmetics, true, but I'm a fan of bright an intense colors for the night mostly, I'm happy with my 88 color palette, but the quantity of product of my favorite colors in Sugarpill is amazing and the HIGH quality of the product and package.

I have to say Sugarpill have an intensity perfect for me, I LOVE dramatic looks :P, actually I've already ordered ( and they are already with me) Poison Plum, Flamepoint pressed eyeshadows, Lumi, Tiara and Asylum loose eyeshadows so I'm pretty happy about Sugarpill cosmetics.

1.- Sugarpill logo is property of their owners (Amy, @shrinkle in twitter), it was only used to illustrate this opinion, if the owners of the logo asked me to remove it from this blog, I'll be agree to cooperate :).

2.- This opinion it's totally NON SPONSORED, I bought every product I described in this post, MY OPINIONS ARE ACCORDING MY CONSIDERATION AND WITHOUT EXTERNAL INFLUENCES.

MAC-RODARTE THE BRAINLESS AND THE BEAST

In February 2010 RODARTE shows their collection inspired about Ciudad Juarez, because the sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy (creators of RODARTE) made a trip to El Paso, Texas, and they wanted to do a collection with the elements they saw, in the New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, the models were show like ghosts in the catwalk, with inspired Victorian shattered dresses, that's ok at this point, personally I love the Mexican tradition of Dia de Muertos (All saints day), because is very colorful, joyful and is beautiful because the live and the death reunite once a year, but I'll give you more information about the celebration of Dia de Muertos.

Everything was “ok“ until they explain why they did their collection inspired in the beautiful landscape of the desert,
oh I forgot they said the inspired their collection too in THE MURDERS OF THOUSANDS OF WOMEN IN CIUDAD JUAREZ (yeah, they wasn't sure about they screwed up).

The story is not ended, M.A.C. one of the most respected, bigger, part of
Esthée Lauder and prestigious marks in the fashion and make up scene decide to do a collection with RODARTE to be out in Fall 2010, the date September 15th (the same day Mexico will celebrate the Anniversary 200th of their Independence), I would lie if I tell I don't buy M.A.C. products, I buy them and some of them I really love them like the Hello Kitty limited edition line, but this time M.A.C. decide to make the RODARTE limited edition with the “fabulous“? smart? idea of the DEAD WOMEN IN CIUDAD JUAREZ, where thousands of young women, worker from the “maquiladoras“ has been KILLED with the “great“? names of this line:

Lipstick – $14.00 U.S. / $16.50 CDN

  • Ghost Town Sheer white with white, gold and green pearlized pigment (Frost) (WTF???)
  • Rose State Mid-tone blue pink (Lustre)
  • Sleepless Light grey taupe (Frost)

Lipglass – $14.00 U.S. / $16.50 CDN

  • Rodarte Pale creamy pink with layers of sparkling white, mint, and pink
  • del Norte Light creamy violet with layers of sheer sparkling taupe, pink and grey

Lip Erase – $16.00 U.S. / $19.00 CDN

  • Pale Flesh tone NC 27 Shade (Matte)

Mineralize Eyeshadow – $19.50 U.S. / $23.50 CDN

  • Bordertown Black with red, pale blue, and silver veining (Frost)
  • Sleepwalker Beige with copper, pale blue and pale pink veining (Frost)

Pigment – $19.50 U.S. / $23.50 CDN

  • White Gold White pearl with gold duochrome
  • Kitschmas Shimmering pink/mauve (Permanent)
  • Mauvement Cool taupe with gold pearl (Repromote from Rushmetal, Overrich)
  • Badlands Mid-tone shimmer beige brown

Chromographic Pencil – $14.50 U.S. / $17.50 CDN

  • NW25/NC30 Flesh tone NW25/NC30 shade (Matte)

Beauty Powder – $25.00 U.S. / $30.00 CDN

  • Softly Drifting Pale neutral white-ish pink with soft gold pearl

Blush – $18.50 U.S./$22.00 CDN

  • Quinceanera Shimmery mid-tone blue pink

Nail Lacquer – $12.00 U.S. / $14.50 CDN

  • Juarez Bright opal pink (Frost)
  • Factory Light opal mint (Frost) (ARE U MAD M.A.C.?)

With the brilliant idea of call them Juarez or Factory the polemic and the refuse about this collection has been show world wide. Actually M.A.C. decide to change the name of the all entire collection, the date out haven't change and M.A.C. RODARTE collection compromise to donate 100,000 USD (all we know they could and must help with so much more and all we know that) to non-governmental organizations dedicated to help the problematic in Ciudad Juarez

I'm not against the idea of the “dead look“ if someone who is reading this blog, knows something about the DRAG UND STURM the romantic movement in Germany, will know the fashion in that time was look with a sick face very pale and lips very marked, and the romantic movement explains this like “love to death“ (some other authors gives their own explanation, but this is what I've reading across these years) and I have made this look for myself like any other Gothic girl in the world or anyone who is not a goth but you make costume for Halloween. But YOU CAN'T TRY TO GET ANY MONEY WITH A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IMPLICATE THE MURDER, THE PAIN, THE DEATH, THE RAPE OF THOUSANDS OF YOUNG WOMEN, A REAL PROBLEM THAT MEANS THE SUFFERING OF A LOT FAMILIES THAT HAS BEEN LOST THEIR BELOVED ONES, AND YOU CAN'T EXPECT THE PEOPLE WILL FOLLOW YOUR CRAZY IDEA IF THEY READ THE NEWS IN THE INTERNET AND THE JOURNALS AND SEE HOW HARD THIS SITUATION HAS LONG MORE THAN 10 YEARS, 10 YEARS OF AN ENDLESS FEAR.

M.A.C.-RODARTE has screwed up, a REAL EPIC FAIL, and thanks to internet, twitter even facebook contribute to make a change, and the big companies will think twice to put insensitive names, or they not going to call another collection with names like: “Anorexia and Bulimia “ and lipsticks like: “food-less“, “puking“ or “vomit“ (that will make people like me very angry), learn the lesson because we are not blind and shameless and maybe you will lose a lot of customers.

NOTE: this is my point of view, all the marks and names belongs to their owners, I don't have any money interest, I'm just expressing myself.

Once upon a time...Miguel Bose

Sometimes we listen a song and we feel a lot of things, and if have follow this blog you can see the music is the soundtrack of my life, and well this is an AMAZING song by Miguel Bose, he is an Spanish singer and songwriter, very successful and talented, his career began in the 70's and he still is recording great albums, in his life he has sing with artists like David Bowie(yay!), Alaska (I really love this woman too so we will have another review with this great woman from the spanish lands too) and other ones.

But well let's talk again from the GREAT Miguel Bose, Miguel Luchino González Bosé, he was born at April 3rd, 1956, his parents are the bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguin (deceased) and the Italian actress Lucia Bose (78 years old). He has sold more than 12 million albums in his all entire career. And he is a great actor too, he worked with Pedro Almodovar in the movie "Tacones Lejanos" .

Rising Bose
Hi started in the music world in the year of 1975, with the support of another Spanish singer, Camilo Sesto, his first song is "Linda" having a great success in all Spain and other countries in Latinamerica then with other two singles "Amiga" (Girlfriend) and "Mi libertad" (My freedom). In 1978 the 2nd album "Miguel Bose" with the song "Anna" gives the international vision in many European countries,
and in 1979 his 3rd album "Chicas!" (Girls!) gives him one of his greatest hits in the first part of his career "Super Superman".

The 80's has come an in the first Bose's era his look was like a cute and tender boy, a perfect image for girls and his success was growing up, in 1980 his 4th album "Miguel" gives more hits, "Morir de amor" (To die for love) and "Te amare" (I'll love you) was very accepted and the single "Olympic Games" was the most international of this album and the cover of this album was a tribute to his father, here Bose looks like a perfect bullfighter. With very large tours and re-editions of his albums in other languages come the year 1981 and the album "Mas alla" (Beyond) and the single "Marcha
te ya" (Go away) doesn't have the same popularity like his past singles and the label decide to do in 1982 a hits album with two unknown songs one of them "Bravo Muchachos" (Go boys, or his italian title Bravi Ragazzi) and gives him another hit in his record. In the same year he become in the godfather for a Mexican kids band named "Timbiriche" having an amazing popularity in Mexico. In Italy was the same situation and his album of 1983 "Milano Madrid" is the gift for the italian fans and in Spain the album "Made in Spain" (with compositions from other Spanish bands like Alaska y los Pegamoides, Radio Futura, Mecano and some other) but this one haven't luck and the new bands of the "Movida Madrilena" (Madrid's Movement) rock, wave and punk bands was being popular and the "cute boys" was losing fans.

The New Bose
In 1984 Miguel Bose decide to give a new way to his career and he began the conquer to a new public, changing his voice to a deeper voice and his influences going to styles more like David Bowie or Depeche Mode, and going against the will of the label he record the album "Bandido" (Bandit), and the singles "Sevilla" and "Amante Bandido" (Bandit Lover) returns to Bose to the charts, with a new look more adult, sofisticated, with a little vampire look with a lot of charisma and leaving behind the
"pretty boy" and being experimental was the way to follow with a new label and the albums Salamandra (Salamander) in 1986 and "XXX" in 1987 show a new talent becoming in a sensual man.

The 90's is carrying something more light in his sound with the album "Los chicos no lloran" (Boys don't cry) and his next work makes a compilations of his hits live in concert "Directo 90" (90 Direct). Is in 1992 when he made a goal with his actor face in the movie "Tacones Lejanos" by Pedro Almodovar
starring Victoria Abril, Marisa Paredes and Miguel Bose, where he is a judge (judge Dominguez) and a drag queen (Femme Letal), investigating the murder of the husband of Rebeca (Victoria Abril).

1993 mark the born of a new album "Bajo el signo de Cain" (Under the Sign of Cain) edited in english and italian, very experimental and deeply ambiental and the new hot list "Si tu no vuelves" (if don't come back) and "Nada Particular" (Nothing in Particular). After 2 years in 1995 "Laberinto" (Labirynth) is more experimental than the last one, with the singles "La autorradio canta" (The car stereo sings), "Este mundo va" (This world
goes by). In 1995 once again Bose makes another amazing role play in the cinematographic scene with the director Vicente Arandas in the movie "Libertarias" (Libertarians) and a short film by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.

1996 his father dies for a Brain Stroke at 69 years old.

"Once maneras de ponerse un sombrero" (1998) is a tribute for his favorite Latin American songs, The beauty marks this album with singles like "Muro" (Wall) and "Solo pienso en ti" (I only think of you).

In 1999 B
ose did a new album compilating his last 16 years of his music career (1984-1998), "Lo mejor de Bose" (The best of Bose) includes 2 new singles: "Hacer por hacer" (Do and do) and "No hay ni un corazon que valga la pena" (There isn't a heart to die for) and 2 new versions of "Amante Bandido" and "Nena". I April of 1999 he had a car accident with his friend Rebeca de Alba, she only had low concusions but he had very hard wounds, 2 weeks later he appeared in a show awards with his friend Alejandro Sanz, they were dressed in the same way and Miguel was walking hardly.

After 2000

In period when he was Host in the Tv program "Septimo de caballeria" and after a big
accident were he almost lose his life, he started the Tour "Girados" (Spinners) with Ana Torroja the ex-vocalist of the band "Mecano" they went all over their hits of their music careers and recording all the tour in a double CD.

In 2001 appeared a new album "Sereno" (Serene) where he shows unknown faces of his life. 2004 gives a very ambitious project "Por vos yo muero" (I'm dying for you), he worked with his very close friend Alejandro Sanz, Chris Cameron and Nicolas Sorin, this album is a tribute to the soundtracks and his classical instruction when he was a boy. He only presented this show in a few cities in Spain and Mexico with different symphonic orchestras, one of the most important challenges in his career.

In 2005 goes out "Velvetina" a work that get closer to electronic, dance, trip hop and chill out, produced and written by Bose and Antonio Cortes, the lyrics were written in different languages, the DVD of this album have 13 videos, which one shows each song of the album, the creators of each video had freedom enough to do them. The design of "Velvetina" was made by David Delfin. One of his best albums for their deep and a little bit confusing lyrics, the video "Down with Love" was censure in Mexico for the "high erotic content" .

In 2007 goes out in the stores "Papito" were he reunite his bigger hits and doing featurings with international artists, having high numbers and the tour covers from Latin America, Spain and a concert in Italy after a little break he began again in 2008. Thia album has sold more than 2 800 000 albums in all over the world.

His sensuality gives this great (and one of my favorite) songs called "Aire soy":

AIRE SOY

Una idea, un continente, una mirada.
Casi sin querer...
Se me escapa, se me nubla, no se acaba
Casi sin querer...

No hay nada ya,
No hay nada ya
Tocarte por dentro, besar...
No hubo y no habra
No hay nada aqui ya
Volarme y al tiempo volar...

Choir
Aire soy y al aire
El viento no, el viento, el viento no
Que sin ti soy nadie...
Sin ti yo no, sin ti, sin ti yo no...

Una fuga.
Un SOS.
Una parada.
Casi sin querer...
Y la duda en sentimiento transformada
Casi sin querer...

No hay nada ya,
No hay nada ya.
Tan bello es caer a tus pies...
No hubo y no habra.
No hay nada aqui ya.
De quién este cielo es.
De quién?

Choir
Aire soy y al aire...
El viento no, el viento, el viento no...
Que sin ti soy nadie...
Sin ti yo no, sin ti, sin ti yo no...

No hay nada ya,
No hay nada ya.
Tan bello es caer a tus pies...
No hubo y no habra.
No hay nada aqui ya.
De quién este cielo es.
De quién?

Choir
Aire soy y al aire...
El viento no, el viento, el viento no...
Que sin ti soy nadie...
Sin ti yo no, sin ti, sin ti yo no...
